ASCD Ghana Hosts Inaugural International Educators’ Summit 2024 at International Community School Accra Campus
The ASCD Ghana inaugural International Educators’ Summit 2024 was hosted by International Community School (ICS) in Accra, Ghana, from July 5-7, followed by a post-summit leadership masterclass on July 8. The ICS community joins its Director, Dr. Charles Yeboah, who also serves as the Executive Director of ASCD Ghana, to celebrate the success of the summit. The International Educators’ Summit, held at ICS’ Accra Campus, was the first such gathering of global educators in the country. The summit exceeded expectations by impacting close to 1,000 people from 14 countries. Apart from the 600+ educators who attended the main summit from Friday to Sunday, 250+ school leaders from all 16 regions of Ghana participated in the post-summit leadership masterclass on Monday, with 100+ able volunteers supporting the summit.
The summit featured renowned keynote speakers, thought leaders, and presenters, including Patrick Awuah Zaretta Hammond, and Richard Culatta , Kwame Simmons among others.
The summit’s impact was palpable and uncomparable to any educational conference worldwide, with participants praising the insightful and impactful sessions, networking opportunities, and side attractions like the trip to Assin Manso and Cape Coast Castle, as well as the joyful networking gala night at Accra Marriott Hotel. The Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo, representing the President, graced the occasion, addressing the gathering on Friday and Monday, respectively.
The summit’s success is a testament to the response of the many presenters, thought leaders, and keynote speakers who answered our call for proposals from 10 countries. It is also attributable to the dedication of our team, volunteers, partners, and sponsors. We are eager to share the summit report with stakeholders and those passionate about improving educational outcomes in Ghana, Africa, and globally.
