Leadership and Public Speaking Seminar for Upper Secondary Students

 In News

On 29th January, our Upper Secondary students at ICS Accra Campus participated in an inspiring Public Speaking and Leadership Seminar, organised by Makayla Ewurabena Sika Prahand Nhyira Odzefo in collaboration with the Upper Secondary student leadership team. The seminar gave students the chance to explore leadership beyond school titles, reflect on the qualities of effective leaders, and consider the kind of leaders they want to become.

The session featured a panel discussion with our Head Boy, Kevin Lamptey; Head Girl, Skyelar Adusei; Dining Prefect, Isabella Graham; and Year 13 student, Taiya Braimah, who shared honest insights from their leadership journeys. They spoke about building confidence, managing responsibilities, learning from challenges, and discovering their own leadership styles. Their advice reminded students that leadership is about initiative, teamwork, and setting a positive example—not just holding a title.

The seminar also welcomed Mr. David Dei-Awuku, a seasoned leadership and communication strategist, who captivated students through interactive exercises and crowd work. Participants practiced key public speaking techniques—from body language and voice projection to handling nerves—making communication more confident and approachable.

The seminar proved both energising and inspiring, leaving students with a deeper understanding of leadership in action and renewed confidence to speak up, take initiative, and embrace new challenges in the school community.
