ICS KUMASI PRE-SCHOOL HOLDS NEW PARENT ORIENTATION

 In 2019/2020 Academic Year

We are happy to report that about 25 parents and guardians of new pre-schoolers joined us at the school at Patasi on Friday, September 27 for new parent orientation.

The programme offered parents a well-rounded introduction to ICS with information and resources for a better experience with the school.

Principal, Ms. Lucy Ayodo in welcoming the parents to the ICS family, emphasised that the school has an open-door policy and urged parents to reach out with any questions, suggestions and concerns.

Head of the Kumasi Pre-school, Mrs. Rita Boapeah-Kwarteng took parents through the school’s policy and said they have been developed in the interest of students and parents called for support in implementation.

Information shared included reporting and pick-up times, dress code, essential school supplies, available communication channels, key events on the school calendar and support within and outside the classroom.

Teaching staff, Mrs. Ajeigbe and Ms. Asenso gave an overview of the pre-school curricular and emphasised that experiential learning is an important component of the curricular.

Mr. Michael Addai from the school’s IT Department gave an overview of ICS’ communication system; Ed-Admin and demonstrated how parents can access reports, bills, letters and also communicate to teachers through the schools website, www.icsghana.org.

Following the presentations, parents asked questions and provided feedback on various areas of concern. Areas discussed included support with homework, health and safety, recommended books, sexuality, care outside the classroom, appropriate TV programmes and hours.

The new parents expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the school and called for more of such engagements in the future.
