Addressing participants at the opening ceremony, director of the school, Dr. Charles Yeboah reiterated the need for staff to personify the theme for the academic year, “See the Leader in Me”.
“A leader aspires to greatness and if a teacher can model that, the student will be inspired to do more”, he said.
Speaking on the mission of the school, Principal of ICS Ghana, Ms. Lucy Ayodo cautioned teachers not to compromise on standards and to be guided by the shared mission of raising confident, responsible, innovative and empowered leaders for the world at large.
Ms. Ayodo advised teachers to see their students as individuals with unique talents that need to be nurtured separately.
She again stressed the importance of creating an empowering environment for students to thrive. She urged teachers and other staff to work together to ensure the shared mission of ICS is achieved.
Head of ICS Prep School at the Accra campus, Mrs. Akosua Konadu Awuah spoke on the need to create a child-friendly environment for students. She reminded participants of the need to break gender stereotypes, embrace diversity and create equal opportunities for students.
After the opening session, staff and faculty went into various learning sessions after which a battle of talent and skills in various sporting activities including basketball, volleyball and table tennis ensued at the ICS Sports Arena between staff in Accra and Kumasi on opposite sides.
Day one of ICS Ghana 2019/2020 bootcamp was climaxed with a movie show at the forecourt of the school.
