Pink October: ICS and Partners Offer Free Breast Cancer Screening

 In Community Service

It was a Pink Market Day at the Lapaz Market on Saturday, October 26 when the school in partnership with Rotary Club of Accra (Kanda, Adabraka and Airport City) and Breast Care International, BCI offered free breast cancer screening for traders and residents of Lapaz and surrounding areas.

With support from medical staff of the Lapaz Community Hospital, over 500 persons were screened for Breast Cancer and other health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.

President of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai educated patrons on the symptoms of Breast Cancer and demonstrated how to conduct self-examination.

She disclosed that though incidence of Breast Cancer in men are low, it is important for men to also check their status regularly.

We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Accra (Kanda, Adabraka and Airport City), Breast Care International, Lapaz Community Hospital and all volunteers for a successful screening exercise.

Our partnership with Breast Care International was facilitated my ICS alumna, Dr. Abena Ofosuah Addai.
