ICS GHANA IS BACK TO SCHOOL ONLINE

In 2019/2020 Academic Year, Virtual Learning

It was an exciting moment for the ICS Ghana community as school reopened online for term 3 on April 14 with a virtual assembly that saw students and staff reconnecting with each other from their homes through technology.

An abrupt closure of the school before end of term 2 examinations in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic called for another innovative approach to teaching and learning.

Over a period of 3 weeks, ICS Ghana’s IT Technicians, Academic Team, Administrative Staff, Students and Parents worked together to birth a new virtual learning platform.

The ICS Ghana virtual classroom combines the school’s system with third party digital platforms to deliver interactive virtual lessons to students.

With the new virtual classroom, students are able to sign in for real-time lessons through digital devices like laptops, tablets and mobile phones. The system also makes provision for a catalogue of past lessons and resources for students’ reference outside the live lessons.

Addressing the school community from his residence, our Director, Dr. Charles Yeboah commended students, parents and staff for “displaying the true spirit of leadership that defines ICS Ghana” to work together for a smooth transition to the virtual learning platform.

“In deed these are not normal times but as leaders and future leaders, we have not allowed the coronavirus pandemic to leave us helpless. We have been innovative and creative in ensuring academic continuity”, he added.

ICS Ghana principal, Ms. Lucy Ayodo reminded students of the resources and hard work that has been put into ensuring that there is no interruption in the academic timetable and urged them to be diligent and punctual for all lessons.

“We have come this far because we want the best for every ICS student. We will still have music lessons, physical education and other extra-curricular activities even through our virtual platform. Follow the routines and timetable shared with you and continue to show the leader in you during this period. The counselling office will still be open and available to you online. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you find everything overwhelming. We are all here for you.” She assured the students.

The Head of ICS Accra High School, Mr. Mawuenyega Diaba urged the school community to continue to follow the health and safety protocols shared by the school in the fight against Covid-19.

Virtual lessons followed right after the morning assembly with students moving on to their various class platforms.

We look forward to a successful term 3 with hopes of defeating Covid-19 so we can return to physical learning but until then, we shall enjoy this new learning experience as we comply with government’s directive to stay home to curb the spread of the virus.

Be safe out there!
